Too much stuff to talk about so we might as well round it up:jlo_ojaninoa.jpg

JLo‘s is in court trying to make sure a tell-all book about her vida sexual by ex-husband Ojani Noa doesn’t get published.

“Sadly, no personal detail is too sacred to be sold by Noa for profit,” state the papers filed by Lopez’s attorney, Paul N. Sorrell, according to the Associated Press. “Noa will do anything within his power to make money off his ex-wife. He is out of control.”

Pobrecitos, Argentina lost to Germany in the World Cup Quarter Finals. I know who I was rooting for, so this makes me sad. Now on to Brazil vs. France tomorrow. (World Cup Blog — a really good site!)

NA23FO01.JPGAcclaimed Argentine director Fabian Bielinsky, 47, died in his sleep on Wednesday in Sao Paulo of what appears to have been a heart attack.

Bielinsky was, after directing only two feature length films, one of Argentina’s most acclaimed directors, most notable for his film Nueve Reinas:

…winner of 21 international awards, and later for the police story El Aura (2005), for which he had just won six awards at the Cóndor de Plata awards ceremony.

summerstage_2.jpgWe may not have the greatest (read cleanest)beaches pero the big mango has plenty to get excited about during the summer especially when it comes to FREE musical offerings. One of my personal favorites is Central Park’s SummerStage that always offers up some hot Latino acts for all musical tastes. This year the lineup includes Ska Cubano, Seu Jorge, Jose Gonzalez, Alex Cuba Band, a noche flamenca, From Mambo to Hip Hop, and the 4th Brazilian Film Festival of New York: This Is Bossa Nova, Lenine. I will personally be hitting most of these shows (with my camera) but I think I’m most excited about the hip-hop rock en espanish mash up offered on August 5 with Puerto Rico’s Calle 13 and Argentino Gustavo Cerati (just writing about it is getting me all hyped).

Check out the complete SummerStage lineup at the official website

Who would have thunk it? According to an article posted on the Washington Post‘s web site, the harsh positions taken on the immigration issue by conservatives in the the House of Representatives may be hurting President Bush’s Latino cred. According to the article:

The latest blow to Bush’s efforts to woo Hispanics came last week, when a band of House Republicans unexpectedly balked at renewing the 1965 Voting Rights Act, partly because of a 30-year-old requirement that many local governments provide bilingual ballots.

Ay who needs voting rights anyway right? Forget the fact that the Voting Rights Act is more than just about Latinos. According to Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King:

Multilingual ballots divide our country, increase the risk of voter error and fraud, and burden local taxpayers.

Except that many of those requiring multilingual ballots are taxpayers.
