2921.jpgVenezuelan president Hugo Chavez isn’t too pleased about the U.S.’s recent moves to block his country from the U.N. security council. Venezuela’s El Universal quoted his latest broadcast address in response to the move:

“Venezuela is going to pull out all the stops. It is David against Goliath. We do not care. Let the empire show its claws. We trust in the courage and dignity of the governments worldwide. I denounce that the United States government has started waging a world campaign against Venezuela, in an attempt at preventing Venezuela from being elected democratically as a member of the (UN) Security Council by countries around the world.”

Sergio Andrade is back

0426_en_wr_sergio_andrade_s.jpgRemember Sergio Andrade, Gloria Trevi’s creepy husband/manager who went to jail on charges of kidnapping, assault, et al? Just when we thought we had seen the last of him, he’s back with a book of poems and a new album. According to People en Español:

In an interview with the newspaper Reforma, Andrade revealed that during his time in prision he took refuge in literature. “In jail, the loneliness, the isolation and the distance put you in a situation of physical and emotional darkness that is such that, if you don’t make an effort to bring out the light you have on the inside, there is no way of surviving”, he said, adding that he still suffers from depression after the long and turbulent years he went through and that ended with him in a Chihuahua prison.

Andrade’s new book of poems is called Crónicas de la misma historia and his new album Las cuentas claras.

Meanwhile, Gloria herself seems to have recuperated quite well, has been touring and most recently appeared on the Nuestro Himno recording.

arraras1NT_.jpgHaving NBC buy the station where you host a television show has its benefits. That’s what Maria Celeste Arraras is learning now that the Telemundo Al Rojo Vivo hostess will guest co-host on the Today show tomorrow June 23. She will presenting segments between the 9 to 10 AM time slot. Maria Celeste is no stranger to NBC.

She has been an occasional contributing correspondent for both Today and Dateline. She was also co-host for the most recent Black-Brown Democratic Presidential Debate in Iowa for MSNBC.

My work schedule doesn’t allow me to watch the sordid stories on Al Rojo Vivo, so I look forward to seeing Maria Celeste represent on network T.V. in the morning.

hottamalesliveny_1.jpgLiving in a female dominated familia, I know first hand that there is nothing scarier or funnier than a Latina mujer, that’s why I’m looking forward to checking out Hot Tamales Live tonight at the Laugh Factory. Hot Tamales Live is a comedy variety show produced by Eva Longoria, Kiki Melendez and Maria Bravo. That’s right, Ms. Desperate ama de casa has her hand in this but don’t think this is something new for her. Hot Tamales live has been selling out over in Los Angeles since 2002 and has been credited with helping hone her comic acting skills.
