Live Blogging the Not So Live ALMA Awards

21:26 H | Topics: Events - TV

almaawards.gifNothing stereotypical here. Just a bunch of scantily clad latinas (and one latina wannabe) shakin' their asses. Wasn't the idea of this award show abot positive Latino images and we're watching people clapping for hip shaking? Uuuy and Paulina Rubio can't sing - at least not in English anyway. That was the worse opening number I've ever seen.

What is up with all of Eva Longoria's giggling and what is Jessica Simpson doing looking like a carrot at the ALMA awards? The daughter on Gilmore Girls is Latina? She's nominated as outstanding actress in a television series. The winner, Judy Reyes, just called out why the hell Jessica Simpson is there.

I don't remember which Marc Anthony songs were performed by Brian McKnight the night of the ALMA awards. I do know that Marc married his first wife Dayanara Torres in May 2000. During a 2006 interview by Access Hollywood, Marc Anthony was more specific about the songs he referred to in his acceptance speech. The songs he wrote for his wife Jennifer (Lopez) are contained in his English album "Marc Anthony" released in 1999. Songs included e.g. "I Need to Know," "You Sang to Me," and "When I Dream at Night." Marc and Jennifer were both single and dating in 1998-1999. Marc really wanted to marry Jennifer. Did you know that he's called Jen "Lola" since way back then? See the end of his Liner Notes for the album I mentioned, and you can read his message to her: "Lola: Thanks for the times. You made for a great album. I love you."
