Italian pop star: Mexican women have moustaches

An Italian pop star named Tizziano Ferro (sorry...who?) is at the center of a media firestorm in Mexico after saying Mexican women have moustaches. According to Spain's 20 Minutos, the singer, who lived in Mexico for two years is not into Mexican girls (video, with Spanish subtitles, after the jump):
In an interview given to Italian media he stated that in Mexico it is completely impossible to find beautiful women because "they have moustaches".It seems the only one not guilty is Salma Hayek: "It's impossible to say that the most beautiful women in the world are in Mexico. No offense but...they have moustaches...I'm sorry, but they know it. Maybe not Salma...”, he said on the Che Tempo fai show on Italian network RAI.
After his mention of Mexican women's moustaches on Italian TV, the program's host warned Ferro that his insulting comment could offend all Mexican women, to which the singer replied "They know it".
And what I know is that this guy is a mal agradecido and if it weren't for Mexico and Latin America a lot of Italian pop stars like him wouldn't have a career. Jerk.
Mexican media figures are up in arms about the comment:
Andrea Legarreta, host of Televisa's "Hoy", one of the most widely watched entertainment programs in Mexico, responded to Ferro's comments saying that after this insult no one wil buy his records "not moustached women and not non-moustached women", according to EFE.In light of all of the backlash, Mr. Ferro decided to apologize today, according to Caraca's El Universal:
'I was part of a broadcast in which, in a comedic tone together with the host, I did a sketch based on sarcastic jokes', said the singer.'I didn't make a statement, it was just a joke in which sarcastic comments were made about different country's customs, including Italy and myself. I am really sorry if anyone was offended by this', he added.
Have a look at the video (even if you don't read Spanish, you'll get the tone) and you be the judge of whether this was a "comedy sketch" or just a regular interview.

Hilarious. I do have to say, most of the women I met in Mexico would take weekly visits to the beauty salon para depilar. I never found out what goes on in there, but I have a hunch we're talking more than eyebrows.
