drodriguez.gifLatinos like a good cup of coffee and generally we don’t want to spend Starbuck’s prices to get one, pero is McDonald’s coffee something the Latino population really wants? The fast-food chain is banking on it, using Pan-Latin star chef Douglas Rodríguez as its messenger. According to HispanicAd Rodríguez:…

…was tapped by McDonald’s Restaurants of the New York/ New Jersey/Connecticut tri-state area to appear on various Spanish radio programs in the New York vicinity and brought along McDonald’s Premium Roast Coffee for his hosts.

Apparently 1 out of every 10 cups of brewed coffee purchased outside the home in the U.S. is bought in the fast food restuarant. It’s not clear, however, if its Latinos buying that 1 cup out of 10. McDonald’s is touting the fact that their new Premium Roast Coffee has Latino flavor, coing originally from the Basque region of Spain via the the Gaviña family who traveled to the soil of the southern Cuban mountains.

No se, I try to stay away from McDonald’s as a rule and no matter how Latino friendly they try and make their cafe, I think I’ll stick to the coffee from the corner bodega.
