Juanes shakes up parliament

410603.jpgIn an effort to raise awareness of the problem of land mines, singer Juanes did a rare performance at the European parliament in Brussels:

Colombian singer Juanes, guitar in hand, made the “eurodiputados” stand up and dance. The reason was to call attention to the issue of landmines.

Yes, the parliamentarians really were up on their feet and dancing around. Don’t believe me? Watch this video (warning: not for the faint of heart or those violently opposed to acts of incredibly soul-less dancing).

At the end of the performance, Juanes was awarded a certificate for 2.5 million euros from the Parliament to aid in the elimination of land mines in his native Colombia.

Juanes is becoming Latin America’s Bono. For his program “Europe and Latin America: Mind your Step”, he spoke to the Parliament on behalf of Colombia like a statesman, before rocking their stuffed suited little butts out of the Eurocámara. Epa!

You can watch a longer video of the performance (more Juanes, less eurodancing) here. (Courtesy Europarl.es)

The 25 year old actriz from Bogota married her longtime non-Latino boyfriend, David Michael Elwell in a simple ceremony in which, according to Latina magazine male guests wore white guayaberas and the women all had fresh flowers. Catalina will be on the big screen a few times in the not so distant future. She is appearing in a number of films to be released later this year including Paris, je t’aime, Fast Food Nation, and Journey to the End of the Night.

Marc Anthony makes JLo slow down

lopez_wideweb__470x340.jpgEver wonder what the hell it is that JLo sees in her hubby Marc Anthony? JLo spilled one of his qualities to Harper’s Bazaar, according to People Magazine:

“He makes me slow down and eat lunch, which I used not to do,” she says. “We have different philosophies. I’ve been so disciplined. His process is ‘Chill, don’t kill yourself.’

“Maybe,” she suggests, “I’ve got a martyr thing because I was raised Catholic. But with him I feel like I should relax and slow down. That’s a first for me.”

Seriously, JLo, slow down. You’re rich as hell, so you deserve a break today.

She doesn’t look like she’s getting one, though. Marc hauled JLo off to the D.R. and had her singing some duets with him at a concert there. I just hope that was nothing like their horrible “Escapemonos” fiasco at the 2005 Grammys.
