Pilar Montenegro is mad

MontenegroNT_.jpgAbout the naked pictures her ex-husband sold to Penthouse. She also says she wasn’t naked in them (sounds like Foto-Chop!):

“I thought he was a gentleman, but know I see he’s not,” said Pilar, referring to her ex-husband.

“I’m super hurt, those were personal photos. I did them in lingerie, so those naked photos, I’m sure they took my clothes off with the computer.”, said the singer, who also said she did the photos because Jorge himself asked her to, with an American photographer who didn’t know who Pilar was, somewhere in Ft. Lauderdale or West Palm Beach.

Jorge Reynoso, her ex, responds with a very bizarre letter sent to the press in the Dominican Republic, which you can read in its entirety (in Spanish) on the Univision website.

antonio.jpg Spanish film star and husband of Melanie Griffith, Antonio Banderas today on Telemundo’s bochinche/chisme show, Cotorreando, said :

It’s ridiculous that you have some 15 million or so Latino immigrants, many working for 10 years or more and they still don’t have their papers.

Banderas who is currently out and about pushing his new film, Take the Lead, also said that he wish he could have been at the recent protests that took place in Los Angeles and that he was there in spirit if not in person because of his work schedule.

MTV goes Spanglish

logo_mtv_latino_gd.jpgJust when you thought the world had enough MTV channels — with what seems like millions in Latin America, Asia and Europe — MTV has announced its new venture, MTV Tr3s.

Tr3s is a new channel catering to the much underserved US Latino market, aged 18-34, an untapped demographic which advertisers have been waiting to target, but up until this point haven’t been able to do en masse because of the lack of content available to support them.

The channel is said to have a “Spanglish” format, which put in the hands of MTV makes me a bit wary, as I commented on another blog today. I am cautiously optimistic, however.

What would be really interesting to see would be Tr3s with content similar to that of MTV, which goes beyond videos to offer reality shows, gossip, celebs, etc. Not because I am particularly inclined towards that kind of programming, but because I think viewers will be. A TV version of VivirLatino might be a good idea, no, MTV? Gimme a call.

Andrés Serrano : Piss and Pimps in Puerto Rico

9:52 am By Maegan La Mala · Arts|Puerto Rico · Comments Off

Pisschrist.jpg The son of a Honduran father and a Cuban mother, photographer Andrés Serrano has a history of controversy he carries through his raw photography. Serrano is probably most imfamously remembered for his 1987 work Piss Christ, which is described in a recent release for his current show as being a photograph…

…in which Serrano immersed a crucifix in substances derived from corporal waste.

Which basically means the crucifix is photgraphed in pee.
