Thalia's trip to NASDAQ

(File under WTF) Do my eyes deceive me or is that Thalia I see closing the trading day at NASDAQ? Why, yes, it is the star of Maria Mercedes ringing the closing bell, with some March of Dimes people and a K-Mart executive. Struggling to find the tie-in...doh, there it is:

The reason she was there wasn't financial but humanitarian: the Mexican superstar is part of a campaign that looks to inform pregnant women on ways to avoid premature births.

Apparently Thalia is a spokesperson for both the March of Dimes and K-Mart. I also remember her hawking some Hershey's chocolate a while back.

I always have wondered about the "closing bell" ceremony and why it's so often used as a PR platform. I mean I can see the relevance if a company is going public, but what does Thalia ringing the bell at NASDAQ do to promote the March of Dimes? If anything, it will just have a bunch of business men thinking "who the hell is this person?" when it dawns on them "oh, that's Tommy Mottola's wife."

The mean, mean person inside of me wonders if Thalia even knows what the NASDAQ is.

Instead of applauding a successful Latina, who is doing something great in a country that is not her own, why not knock her and continue to hold her down? People like Jennifer, are why Hispanics will forever be looked down upon in this country!

Sorry, but I don't applaud people just because they are Latino. That sort of indiscriminate pandering hurts rather than helps. And say what you will, but as someone who has been spoonfed Thalia through various mediums over the past decade or so, she's not the sharpest pencil in the box and not the best example of a Latina success story. Much better examples abound.

No, I don't ask that you applaud her for simply being a Latina. But, if you were indeed spoonfed Thalia over the past decade or so, you should very well know that this girl has been working non-stop since the age of 9. She made her own fame and fortune and represents more to the Latin community than just being Mrs. Mottola. To us, he became Mr. Thalia when he married her!

Thalia may seem like the poor, defenseless, goofy girl on television but she's got her head on straight; Thalia DEFINITELY knows about Nasdaq. and if she didn't, I am sure she was given a briefing :D

THALIA, is more than a Tommy mottola's wife, and you should know that for sure, she is one Mexican superstar who was very well recognized worldwide even before Jennifer and Shakira, to tell you the truth, i m from Lebanon a very far country in Middle east, and a big fan of her, and I DO RESPECT her carreer since she was 9 years old! She is a very succesfull person whatever she does, Singing, acting, wrting, composing, as a buisness woman! She is one of the so few people we know, very honest and decent!
