lrivera.jpgThe hosts for the 2006 Latin Billboard Latin Awards have been revealed. Lupillo Rivera, a huge force in that mix of genres that gringos like to call “Regional Mexican” and TV personality Candela Ferro will be doing the honors:

Rivera is a finalist this year for regional Mexican album of the year, male solo artist for “El Rey de las Cantinas” (Univision/UG) and regional Mexican airplay song of the year, male solo artist for “Ya Me Habian Dicho.”

The 2006 Billboard Latin Music Awards will mark the fourth time that Ferro has co-hosted the show. Candela currently presents the top-rated Telemundo primetime program “Decisiones.”

As previously reported, reggaeton star Daddy Yankee and Mexican pop phenomenon RBD — both part of the youth movement that dominated Billboard’s Latin charts last year — are the leading finalists for the 2006 awards. Daddy Yankee is a finalist in 10 categories. RBD, which burst into mainstream consciousness last year with “Rebelde,” is a contender in nine categories, including top Latin albums artist.

More RBD and more Daddy Yankee. Can we get some diversity up in here please?

nuns.jpgYou can’t make this stuff up. A group of nuns from Barcelona, Spain has launched a curious (understatement) campaign to convince women that it doesn’t matter if you like to party, get wasted, make skrills…you can be a nun too! From the site (translated), “Mi vocación”:

“Me a nun? Ha-ha!

You like men, nightclubs and money?

Do you fall in love easily?

Of all the options life has to offer, every young woman should consider, as well, these two options: should I be a gigolá (female gigolo) or a nun?”

Oh my (excuse the expression) God, what?!

President Chavez: Anti-Semite?

chavez.jpg In a Christmas Eve speech last year Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez said:

The world is for all of us, then, but it so happens that a minority, the descendants of the same ones that crucified Christ, the descendants of the same ones that kicked Bolivar out of here and also crucified him in their own way over there in Santa Marta, in Colombia — a minority has taken possession of all the wealth of the world, a minority has taken ownership of all of the gold of the planet, of the silver, of the minerals, the waters, the good lands, oil, of the wealth, and have concentrated the wealth in a few hands: Less than 10 percent of the population of the world owns more than half of the wealth of the world and … more than the population of the planet is poor, and each day there are more poor people in the whole world.

Does this make him anti-semetic?

Jessica Alba a Go-Go?

Jessica%20Alba.jpg Jessica Alba’s got the beat, at least enough for the former lead singer of the 80′s mujer band The Go-Go’s.

Belinda Carlisle is producing a movie based on her rocker girl days and wants Jessica Alba to play her.

No word if Jessica has accepted.
