9:10: Tropical Song of the Year presented by part of Grupo Reik…one guy is missing and they had a cardboard cutout of him.
WINNER: OLGAAAAAAAAAA! She’s wearing a top hat and man’s suit and totally pulls it off. Like Juanes, if Olga is in your category, you are screwed.
9:12: Lidia Avila and Poncho Lizarraga present Best Pop Male Vocalist. Bad, bad, bad jokes. Lidia looks pretty.
WINNER: Luis Fonsi!
9:15: Rene Strickler introduces Laura Pausini referring to her as LATINA…Here we go again! Laura seems like a nice girl and all, but is another one of those performers I can’t see the appeal in. She’s just so flat pop. I do like hearing an Italian sing in Spanish though, it’s cute.
9:18: The Ads: JC Penney…another bland ad but at least it has some Latino people in it. Bud Light again. T-Mobile again. JC Penney again! Somebody’s trying hard. Chevy Silverado…there are some cowboy hat-wearing Tejanos in this one. Still bland.

9:00: Best regional Mexican song presented by Mauricio Aspe and Eugenia somebody.
WINNER: My boys Intocable! Yeah!
9:05: Best rock song presented by Reyli and Cynthia Olevarria…so very obvious who is going to win when Juanes is in the mix.
WINNER: JUANES!
9:07: Daddy Yankee is about to hit the stage. It sounds LOUD. OMG, the stage, the background, the design is awesome! Truly a show-stopper. Huge screens, bigger than life, flashing the words “Hermandad” and quotes by Victor Hugo. I’m not a reggaeton fan, but that was great!
9:10: The Ads: Wendy’s again. Did I mention I really like this ad? Finally something smart in Latino-targeted advertising. Chevy Tahoe…God their ads or so boring and not targeted at all. There’s the vitamin commercial again…”genetically specific for Hispanics”…sorry for the redundance, but WTF??? AT&T…a mainstream ad with a Latino voiceover. Way to go, AT&T. Sierra Mist…pretty good ad, marginally funny, which is a lot for Latino marketing.
