Just like every Valentine’s Day, one of those online dating sites a la Match.com puts out an “insightful” study into what is on our minds with regards to love. This year is no exception, as San Diego-based MejorAmor.com has decided to delve into the hearts and minds of Latino lovers in the U.S. and in Latin America. Here’s what they found:
— More than 82% of Latino men and women say that the best things about Valentine’s Day is not a gift, but spending it with the person they love.
- More than 30% of Latina polled said that the worst thing about Valentine’s Day is when everyone at the office gets flowers except you.

Carlos Lugo Lorenzo, a 23 Puerto Rican college student at the University of Puerto Rico, assigned to the Engineering Battalion in Aguadilla is the latest person to publicly declare himself a conscientious objector and refuse to go to Iraq if he were to be called. He made the announcement during a rally held in front of an Army Recruitment Center in Rio Piedras held by the group Mothers Against the War. Lugo Lorenzo announced:
Carlos said the reasons the United States gave for the invasion of Iraq were a “farce” and were merely “justifications to take advantage of the natural resources Iraq has”.

Showtime’s lesbian drama “The L Word” has been called groundbreaking in that it’s the first major television show with a plot centered around lesbian characters. The show introduced a Latina character last season (”Carmen”) played by Sarah Shahi. AfterEllen.com goes after the stereotypical portrayal of a Latina in L.A.:
…Carmen explains, “In the Latino culture, it’s okay if two girls dance with each other.”
Her statement, which over-generalizes by using the word “Latino”— there are countless nations and ethnic groups that can be encompassed by that term — drives the scene firmly into stereotypical territory. Indeed, Carmen’s entire family is extremely stereotypical, complete with the over-involved mother who wants nothing more than to feed the overly thin Shane and find her a boyfriend, and a gaggle of gossiping aunties to fix Shane’s hair and coo over Carmen.

It sounded so good being together before with the song All I Have that Jennifer Lopez and LL Cool J have decided to team up again. This time la Lopez is featured on the song Control Myself on LL’s new album Todd Smith to be released in March. The song features J. Lo. sighing and flirting in Spanish and English and is actually is a pretty hot dance song, sue to get you to mover. Nothing sappy and lovelorn about this canción. Check it out.
