lg-cssm.gifFrom the folks that bring you VivirLatino, Blogs Media is proud to announce a new site: CSS Manía.

What is CSS?

Well, it´s short for Cascading Style Sheet, and what you see here on the site is done using it. Basically it is: a simple mechanism for adding style (eg fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents.

Why a CSS site?

Our founders explain: “We wanted to show that a small, Spanish-speaking company has the know-how and the ability to contribute to and compete in a large genre such as that of CSS Showcases. And at the same time, help this area evolve.”

CSS Manía will start off as a nanopublication, but the mid-term goal is to make it a “living” system, like Digg or Technorati with the CSS showcase portion being only one of the services offered.

Our biggest ace in the hole are our updates and catalogging systems and how we make them communicate with one another. CSS Mania’s system catalogs an average of 20 sites per day. Competitor sites tend to show one or two per week.

CSS Mania launched last Friday, February 10th, quickly rising to the top of the popularity list on Del.icio.us which promptly overwhelmed our system — testament to the demand for this type of site.

We hope all of you who are already familiar with CSS visit CSS Manía, as well as those of you who have no clue as to what it is, as it’s an easy way take a peek into the technology. Enjoy!
