Mala reported last week on a new men’s magazine — a “Maxim for Latinos” — called Fuego. Back in November, I applauded the publisher’s decision to serve a market that had been flatly ignored for so long. But in the blink of an eye, the fuego has been extinguished:
Fuego magazine, Harris Publications Inc.’s first foray into the Hispanic marketplace, has folded after less than one year.
A call left late Thursday at Harris was not returned.

From the folks that bring you VivirLatino, Blogs Media is proud to announce a new site: CSS ManÃa.
What is CSS?
Well, it´s short for Cascading Style Sheet, and what you see here on the site is done using it. Basically it is: a simple mechanism for adding style (eg fonts, colors, spacing) to Web documents.
Why a CSS site?
Our founders explain: “We wanted to show that a small, Spanish-speaking company has the know-how and the ability to contribute to and compete in a large genre such as that of CSS Showcases. And at the same time, help this area evolve.”

13 Feb 2006 On Friday, February 10, the FBI conducted raids across Puerto Rico in the name of “stopping domestic terrorism”. Besides raiding the homes and businesses of Puerto Ricans without notifying the allegedly self-governing leadership on the island, the Feds also used force against media covering the investigation against Puerto Ricans in favor of independence for the United States colony of Puerto Rico. No arrests were made but at least five homes and businesses were raided. The FBI is said to be investigating members of the Macheteros, also known as The People’s Boricua Army. In September of last year the FBI shot and killed Machetero leader Filiberto Ojeda Rios in a similar raid.
The Puerto Rican community in New York City is outraged at the use of violence against the Rican independence movement and will be holding a rally in front of 26 Federal Plaza today at 4 p.m.
