While 44% of Latinos may have voted for Bush in the last presidential election, Republican’s shouldn’t take their support for granted. According to a survey taken last week by the Latino Coalition :
most Latinos thought Democrats do a better job at creating more jobs and improving the economy, improving education, providing more affordable health care, staying in touch with the Hispanic community, and, notably, representing their views on immigration.
It is interesting to note however, that most of the Latinos interviewed identified themselves as being Mexican or of Mexican ancestry. It is important to remember that Latinos do not vote as a monolithic bloc because Latinos encompass many nationalities, races, and classes.
