28

Location:
Ozone Park, Queens, NYC

Profession:
Student

Roots:
My dad is Puerto Rican, my mom is Ecuadorian

Languages:
English and Spanish

What does it mean to you to be Latino?
I’ve never really felt connected to that term Latino. I mean I feel more Hispanic when I am in Puerto Rico or Ecuador or anywhere with my family but otherwise I don’t feel connected to something larger.

Did you vote in the last elections?
Yes

Who did you vote for?
I voted against Bloomberg. In this case that meant voting for Ferrer

Do you think it’s important to support and vote for Latinos who are running for public office?
Depends. I won’t just vote for someone because they are Latino. It’s great that they are representing but it doesn’t always mean they are the right person for the job.

In your opinion, are Latinos united or divided as a group?
I think that Latinos are divided as a group because there is a lack of connection with where Latinos born here are from. In the military however Latinos stuck together regardless of their background.

Place in order. I am a _________ first, a ____________ second, a
__________ third. (Example: latina, woman, american)

I am a Latino first, a man second, and an American third.

What are you most proud of?
Experiencing all the things I have experienced in life so far.

What’s your biggest wish /desire?
Just to be happy and always be able to enjoy my life.

I’ll be with my family and probably will be traveling to South America and/or California.
