This being our inaugural post, we’d like to give you a tour of the site. VivirLatino (VL) is written by 3 very different chicas from across the U.S. (San Francisco, New York and Miami). VivirLatino is the debut blog for Blogs Media, a new company specializing in nanopublications, blog services and blog consulting.
Here at VL, we give our opinions, and we hope that you’ll give us yours. Please leave comments on posts so that we can hear all sides of the story. In addition, if you’d like to send us a news tip, or contact us for anything, you can reach us via our contact form.
Now don’t think that since this is the “inaugural post” the site is empty! We’ve been writing posts for 2 months so that our new readers will have lots of good reading to do right from the beginning. So, in order to kick this party off right, we’ve highlighted 15 posts below that we think you shouldn’t miss.

Ricky Martin is shakin’ his bon bon and whoring his wares all over English language television to promote his new album, Life. He was on Oprah on Monday (thankfully not jumping on chairs a la Tom Cruise). Access Hollywood has dedicated a segment every day this week to the Boricua singer. Today you can expect lots of young girls screaming when he appears on MTV’s TRL at 5 pm (I recommend staying clear of the Times Square, NYC area at this time). And if you haven’t od’ed on Mr. Martin’s rugged new look by then, he will also be livin’ la vida loca on The Today Show Outdoor Concert Series on NBC on Friday, and performing on both Regis & Kelly and the CBS Early Show next week. Check your local listings to get your cup of life, I mean, Ricky fix.

The book, Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul, launched on August 9th, 2005. As a promotional effort, one of the co-authors, Susan Sánchez-Casal, has launched a website and a blog including podcasts. The website allows visitors to read sample stories from the book; they are really quite endearing and at the same time, eye opening. Retelling memories of their family, their experiences, and their lives, the authors and contributors find a way to bring you with them as they tell their stories.
The blog is being updated weekly so far, basically just with podcasts of excerpts from the book. I found them a little dry, but please keep in mind that I’m not big on audio books, either!
