And well-deserved. It seems the founder of an anti-immigration group from Connecticut got his — yes, I’ll say it: just desserts, and it wasn’t a “Mexdonald’s” hot apple pie either (too bad)…
The co-founder of an anti-immigration group in Connecticut demanded Wednesday that government officials investigate the “disproportionate” hiring of “Hispanics” at McDonald’s restaurants after presenting what he had privately described to group members as his “MexDonald’s” study.
Paul F. Streitz, a marketing consultant and author from Darien, issued his call after recovering from being hit in the head with a cream pie thrown by an unidentified white man, who immediately ran from the room Streitz had rented in the West Hartford Public Library.

Part of celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month is about deconstructing what makes a Hispanic/Latino. For many of us that means looking at our indigenous roots. The YWCA of Brooklyn is helping to promote that by inviting Bobby Gonzalez, Puerto Rican/Taino scholar and storyteller. The family friendly event Tomorrow, October 6 titled Somos Indios! We are Indian! will discuss and illustrate the art, history, life ways, religions, outstanding leaders, and important events of the Indigenous Peoples of Central and South America and the Caribbean.
The recently bankrupt Delta Air Lines wants to increase service to Mexico by 126% in April of next year. Included in the plans will be the first non-stop flight from Atlanta to Acapulco. They also will add a new destination, Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa.
If all flights are approved by the Department of Transportation, Delta will have a total of 41 flights to 11 destinations in Mexico. They hope to begin all of the new schedules in February/March 2006.
